And Yet…

Here’s some of the hard lessons I’ve learned in 2016:

Sometimes justice isn’t served.  The “system” can fail us.  And yetthe Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed are all who wait for Him! (Isaiah 30:18)

Evil sometimes prevails.  It gets the upper hand.  And yetEvildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the Lord understand it fully (Proverbs 28:5)

Wrongs aren’t always made right.  People may get away with lying.  And yet…He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the light (Job 12:22)

Turning the other cheek is hard.  Especially when you have to do it over and over and over again.  And yetyou must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always (Hosea 12:6)

It’s even harder when you have opportunity to get back at someone.  Especially when no one else will know.  And yetDo not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord (Romans 12:19)

It hurts when things go terribly wrong.  And there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.  And yetthe Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed are all who wait for Him!  People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more.  How gracious He will be when you cry for help!  As soon as He hears, He will answer you (Isaiah 30:18-19)

It can seem like doing the right thing makes no difference.  Why bother doing good?  And yetHe has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

While 2016 was a year of hard lessons…I’m determined to make 2017 my year of the And yet’s…

What scripture verses will become YOUR “And yet…”?
